Fuji Frontier sp3000

The Fujifilm Frontier SP3000 is a high-end film scanner that was designed for professional photo labs and allows for digitizing a wide range of film formats, including 35mm and medium format film.

It uses a CCD sensor and a RGB color filter to capture the image and it can scan up to 4000 dpi resolution which is great for large format printing. It also has an infrared channel for removing the dust and scratches from the film. This high resolution allows for large format printing and allows for capturing fine details and textures in the film.

The scanner also uses a 16-bit A/D (analog-to-digital) converter, which allows for smooth tonal gradations and accurate color reproduction.

It also has a feature called Multi-Sampling which scans the image several times at different exposure levels and then combines them to produce an image with less noise and more details.

Keep in mind that the actual resolution of the final scanned image will depend on the quality and condition of the film being scanned, as well as the settings used during the scanning process.

FEATURES

The scanner supports film formats 135 and 120 and uses Digital ICE technology for dust and scratch removal

Known for producing great color and tonality for color negative film, and preserving highlight detail well

Fuji Frontier ProScan

All of us share a love for analog imagery. To see our results, we transition the film into the digital realm, and that's where challenges arise. These challenges include issues with color interpretation, tonal range, and frame lines – problems reminiscent of early digital photography.

Many photolabs use scanners from a bygone era, designed more for bulk processing than precision. The choice of scanner today feels like pre-selecting a film preset, often giving us a compressed dynamic range reminiscent of 2000s point-and-shoot cameras. To bypass this, professionals either opt for optical prints or use advanced scanners like Hasselblad Imacon.

However, at Karmir, we've discovered the issue isn't solely with the scanners, but the software interpreting the image. We've developed a method to access the raw data before its interpretation. Our approach reveals that the Frontier SP 3000 can produce results rivaling the Hasselblad Imacon. Our unique software processes these raw files into a robust TIFF format, offering far richer detail than standard methods.

With Karmir, there's no need for individualized Hasselblad Imacon scans. Opt for our ProScan service, and get top-quality film scans with expert insights into each shot, ensuring your future film captures are even better.

Noritsu ls-1100

The Noritsu LS-1100 film negative scanner is equipped with advanced colour management features to ensure accurate and consistent colour representation. The scanner uses a 16-bit colour depth and RGB colour mode to capture a wide range of colours and tones. This allows for a high level of colour accuracy and detail, which is particularly important when scanning film negatives which have a limited dynamic range compared to a digital image.

The scanner also uses LED light source for the scanning process, which helps to ensure accurate and consistent colour representation.

The LED light source is calibrated to match the colour temperature of the film negatives being scanned, which helps to ensure that the colours in the scanned images are as close as possible to the colours in the original negatives.

In addition to its advanced colour management features, the Noritsu LS-1100 film negative scanner also includes various colour adjustment tools.

These tools allow users to adjust the colour balance, brightness, contrast, saturation, sharpness, and other characteristics of the scanned images. These tools can be used to fine-tune the colour of the scanned images, ensuring that they match the desired output as closely as possible.

FEATURES

TextThe scanner supports film format 135 and uses Digital ICE technology for dust and scratch removal

It has an optical resolution of up to 3946x5959 pixels (up to 4000 dpi) and TIFF 8 and 16 bit formats

Perfect for scanning black and white film, with great detail in the shadows

Has slightly higher resolution compared to the SP3000

Produces black and white images with a more neutral tone, rather than a warm or cool tone

Great results when scanning slide film
