Setting targets for progress

While the new UNAIDS targets released on World AIDS Day in 2020 emphasize the need for comprehensive HIV services, there are no specific targets for AHD. Meya believes this partially contributes to the lack of investments targeting people with AHD and the consequent mortality.

Better use of data can allow countries to track gaps and progress on tackling AHD.

“If you show that you do have set targets that you want to meet as a country, it is very easy to say this is where we are and this is where we want to get to and this is where the gap is,” said Meya.
